SHIMADA LATHES

Shimada lathe for total productivity.
Twin Spindle Lathes

The 2SI models uniquely connect two spindles, one turret, and a FANUC controller into a highly productive, cost-effective machine tool package. Each model provides an easily customized machining platform, which combines the advantages of multiple spindle productivity with the accuracy, flexibility and the simple set-up routines of a CNC lathe.

Each spindle is alternately indexed between the machining and loading positions.  Upon completion of the machining cycle the spindle magazine-drum indexes 180°, bringing a new part into the machining zone, and at the same time, taking the completed part out.

After the loading-station's chuck is unloaded and reloaded, the machining process is completed and the magazine is indexed again.  The process begins anew.

Shimada has become Japan’s leading manufacturer of 2-Spindle Indexer Machines.

The Automatics can be configured with up to two CNC slides, bar-loaders capable of feeding up to 32mm stock, and numerous optional and customized features which can further reduce the cycle times of so many of today’s large quantity runs.

By combining the accuracy of CNC and the ease of the cam-less operation, part set-up can usually be accomplished in less than three hours.

The 2-Spindle Indexer offers the “load while machining” capability on a CNC lathe with 10” chucks, a geared headstock, and a robust, milling optional, twelve station turret.
