From my 40 years of experience in the machine tool industry , ranging from my training in the German-style of machine tool rebuilding to new machine installations, I get plenty of customers asking if I do any consulting on projects, such as machine tool installations, specialty training for maintenance personnel, project management for large machine tools purchases and placement, digital readout systems' care/and installations, and training. These are just a few of my areas of expertise.

With this vast experience and my skills in machine tool rebuilding, I can deliver to customers timely and cost effective solutions that keep within their budgets, and get their new or used machine tools placed, installed, hook-up and leveled -all by your staff under my guidance, saving you money on costly fixes down the road. General Contractor For: Lockheed Martin, Akron OH.
​For 10 years my company was the sole service provider for Lockheed Martin, Akron, Ohio's machine tools.
I kept their wide variety of machine tools in service during this time. Their machines made strategic parts for weapons.
In addition, I became the project manager/ general contractor for the installations of their many new Mazak machines they purchased. The largest of which required 5 tractors to deliver the 17 containers of components.

Project Management/General Contractor:
As the project manager I decided which containers needed to be brought on site and on which day.
I kept the projects on target, ensuring that the machines were assembled in the order dictated by Mazak.

I also helped Lockheed Martin maintenance personnel choose the correct position of their new machine, ensuring that it would work with their overhead crane, the operator and the general workflow in the area.

In addition to coordinating the containers' timely delivery, I coordinated the excavator and concrete placement for the machines. Guaranteeing that the machines had a strong and deep enough concrete base to handle the machine tool's weight was one of expertises that I provided Lockheed. With my many connections in the industry, I chose the excavator, and concrete company for Lockheed Martin's approval. I chose a company that had the same standards for excellence that I demand of myself.
On smaller machines concrete plays a part too. Many standard shops have the correct concrete base for a new machine, but it doesn't hurt to use an expert to evaluate your situation.
A strong concrete base handles any machine vibration when it's in operation. Naturally the larger the machine the more it matters.
Your production process will weigh- in on this as well. I can handle all these questions. I have seen plenty of poorly installed machine tools that have problems arising from lack of good planning. You make this investment; you need to ensure that it works right.

Over the years I have helped companies hook up their new and used machine tools.
Getting staff to use the right conduit, wiring and evaluating how far the machine is from its electrical source are all very important issues. Too many shops place the machine and later realize that something nearby is affecting the control. I have the expertise to ensure a well placed, neat and safe hook up for your new or used machine.

Leveling your machine is very important. I can't tell you the number of small and large machine tools I encountered that had performance issues steming from leveling issues. From my many skills in rebuilding machine tools to their original geometry and tolerances, I understand what it takes to keep your investment running in top order.
