HEAVY DUTY SPINDLE:
The headstock spindle is machined from forged alloy steel.
It is hardened, ground and dynamically balanced. It is hardened, ground and dynamically balanced.
The spindle is supported at three-points by high-grade precision bearings, two tapered and one ball.
16 SPEED HEADSTOCK:
The educational lathe gearhead model has a wide selection of fixed speeds coupled with a powerful 5hp motor to conquer your turning needs.
The variable speed educational lathe model has two headstock gear ranges that supply a high torque in low range (20 to 400 RPM) and in high range (40 to 2500 RPM).
The educational lathe comes standard with 16 speed selections providing high torque up all the way to 2000 RPM.
The electronic control panel is conveniently mounted with ON-OFF power indicator light, emergency stop push button, coolant pump switch and spindle jogging push button.
On the gearhead model, channels are designed to provide constant lubrication to spindle bearings. On the variable speed model, a 1/4 HP electric pump provides the headstock with forced pressure lubrication.
WIDE BED WITH ONE PIECE BASE:
One-piece machine floor base is made of solid cast iron. Wide bed design is made of Meehanite casting that is vibration stress relieved. Bed ways are induction hardened to HRC 53 and precision ground. The industry-proven LeBlond tradition design Vee and Wide Flat solid bed structure provides rigidity that assures accuracy and maximum stability.
