We've come a long way from the time when a machinist would take a witness cut and then use a dial indicator to achieve the finished size!
Today's CNC machines have absorbed some of the machinist's duties. By using computer aided design, powerful CNC controls, linear scales for more accurate positioning and automatic tool changers, today's machines can produce tighter tolerance parts faster and consistently. That's why Rossi Machinery Services firmly believes that our Takumi line of machines can compete in the high speed machining arena.

A TUESDAY TIP BY MIKE:
So you're in the market for a Vertical Machining Center. Let me introduce you to Takumi, USA.
What the #*? is a Takumi? That's what I said at first. I'm pretty selective when it comes to quality machine tools, but I am glad that I took the time to find out...and I think you will be glad too.
It looks like the way covers are doing their job. Notice that the way cover has an extension that goes under the table and does not just bolt to the face. This further helps protect the ball screw and ways and is just one of the features that helps set Takumi apart from the competition.
Let's start with the foundation. The machine weight is 13,000 lbs. and is MEEHANITE Cast Iron from the ground up. Ok, you say most machines are cast iron , have ball screws, linear ways, servo motors, etc.
So why should I consider Takumi? In my over 30 years in the machine tool industry, I can honestly say that Takumi is a well built machine. I will show you why.
The Takumi VC0852 is a 20" x 34" travel machine that has a robust design that sets it apart from similar sized machines. The Y axes ball screw is 40 mm and is pre-tensioned and supported in a hand scraped bearing block. By hand scraping the bearing block to its mating surface of the machine casting ensures that it is truly flat and prevents any deflection of the ball screw and prohibits lost motion - which all affect accuracy.
With that foundation the VC0852 easily supports its 1,102 lb. table capacity. The machine has a 12,000 rpm. CAT 40 spindle. A 24 station random access swing arm ATC with a 1.31 sec. tool to tool time.
Add in the Takumi FANUC™ H Control and the Takumi line up is worth the look.

Rossi Machinery Services expands its service base.
Rossi Machinery Services is located in Ashland County just south of Medina and right off of the major highways: I-71, Route 250, Route 30, Route 224 and more. The benefits for the company have been great. Working among manufacturers and now the #farming #community, uncovered a need that I was unaware of here in the #Ashland, #Wooster, #Mansfield, #Medina area: the need for farm equipment repairs.
My machine shop & welding center that fully services my manufacturing customers is now open to the #agricultural #community. We offer you the same quality services that manufacturers have enjoyed from me since I began part-time in 1986. My name is on my company and that still means something to me.
Looking ahead at what makes American Companies competitive is no different for the Agricultural community as is true for manufacturing. You need uptime, quality and customer service. You need to be able to compete in the competitive market that you face.
Like manufacturing - the farming industry needs to keep their budgets, but have every dollar of repairs go towards improvements and longevity for your equipment. You need someone in your corner.
Rossi Machinery Services' mission statement for manufacturing is true for the agricultural industry:
We provide our valued customers the finest quality products and services that add value, save money and boost your ability to compete - all within your budget. Feel free to contact us and find out what I can do for you. Happy Holidays, Mike Rossi
Celebrating over 20 years in business is a success story that in the 80's started as a dream for me. Looking at how competitors conducted their businesses and the lack of genuine customer service, I knew that I could do much better.
Why push unneeded products & services on customers when in the end they will not be happy?
Making the service call to evaluate the product or service other maintenance providers sold the customer, verified that I was right. Customers want what is needed and they want their machine fixed right the first time. It was a simple but valuable observation. I developed my business plan off of this experience. My business plan states that the customer will become a repeat and permanent customer if I provide them with an honest, fair priced, quality product or service.
Starting with a handful of business cards I set out to test the waters. Word of mouth got me into many owners' offices. My training at Triple S Machine Company taught me machine tools from the ground up. There wasn't much that I hadn't seen. My master teachers were strict, pushing me to learn the right way to rebuild, repair, and upgrade machine tools. Since I had a reputation for excellence in town, businesses were willing to discuss what I could do for them. My experience as a maintenance supervisor at Reuther Mold & Manufacturing in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio taught me the need to work within the budget constraints. I value both experiences. I built Rossi Machinery Services from what I learned at Triple S Machine & Reuther Mold & Manufacturing.
My new customers included: Eaton Corporation, J.M. Smucker Company, T.L.T. Babcock as well as Nemes Machine, and many other small manufacturing companies. My customers reached every type of manufacturing. Working with them furthered my reputation and then in 1995 Rossi Machinery Services went full time.
As manufacturing evolves in the 21st century, we evolve too. Keeping ahead of what product is needed and wanted by the customer has always been my goal. Learning is a life long skill that Rossi Machinery Services is dedicated to supporting. We attend the seminars, and classes to learn the newest products coming to the industry. While the newest products and services are important, it is also important to keep the rebuilding and repairing service going. Despite the newest machine tools, many small and even large firms still have older machine tools that must stay in service. CNC machine tools' moving parts still need the rebuilding end of my company. Knowing both CNC and manual, new and old machine tools has always been my strength. We try to be the one stop shop.
Today we offer products such as Heidenhain, Acu-Rite, Newall, Fagor and Sony as measuring system options. We work with our customers to determine the best fit for their applications. We represent Renishaw probes. Our in house rebuilding service cannot be surpassed. We rebuild your machines or machines that I rebuild and sell.
I utilize my German-style of rebuilding which focuses on machine tool geometry. My rebuilds are still going 20+ years. Last year I branded my work, naming it NuBuild by ROSSI.
Sometimes rebuilding is not an option. In a few cases it is not cost effective to rebuild and I will advise you to not rebuild. I offer a line of well built affordable machine tools as an option.
ACER Machine has a wide variety of manual and CNC machines. In additon to ACER this year we added safety products from 3M, Honeywell and other safety product companies. We are able to discount and drop ship to your door. Along with the safety products we are now an authorized representative for Rockford Systems, a machine guarding and safety company. Rockford is the premier company for OSHA approved products. Since we are a distributor, I provide my customers a discount off of list price. In keeping with my business plan, I want to be your partner in success.
What worked 20 years ago works today. Customers need value for the money, they need an honest evaluation and suggestion. I want to be your one stop shop ,therefore, you will get the kind of customer service that you want and deserve. I am looking forward to Rossi Machinery Services' 21st year. We'll keep working for you. Your success is my success.
